PERSONAL INFORMATION

We collect personally identifiable information, including your name, contact information, location and billing information when you apply to have our power supplied to you. Providing this information will always be optional for you. However, some services (for example power supply from us) may not be available to you if you chose not to provide it.

From time to time, we may run contests or other promotions. If you participate, we may request your name, mailing address, email address and other information in order to administer the promotion.

When you submit a request, review or comment to our customer service department, we may ask you for your email address.

We also collect data. We or our service provides collect data about your power consumption. This information is linked to the personal information that you have provided. Aggregated data is generated by our systems as they track traffic through our sites. This information does not identify you personally and is not linked to the personally information that you may have provided.

We’d like to keep the personal information we hold about you up to date. Please let us know if any of the information you have provided to us changes.

Who do we share this information with?

We may share personal information that we collect with third parties (including our service providers, credit check agencies, electricity grid or network operators, other electricity retailers and the Electricity Authority) for any of the purposes set out below.

We will take reasonable steps to protect personal information held by us from unauthorised access, use, disclosure or alteration. The information may be hosted by and/or stored with a service provider. Our agreements with them require them to protect the information that they hold on our behalf from any unauthorised access, use, disclosure or alteration.

Any aggregated or de-identified data (not the personally identifiable information) may be shared with third parties such as advertisers or business partners.

How do we use the information?

We may use personal information for any of the following purposes:

  • to provide services to you (e.g. supplying you with power)
  • in connection with the services we provide to you (e.g. to bill you for the power you use or to read, or arrange for your meter to be read)
  • for market research purposes and to provide you with information about our other services
  • to carry out credit checks, to collect amounts that you owe us and to settle our differences with you (including through the Utilities Disputes scheme)
  • to meet the requirements of other participants in the electricity industry included lines and network of grid operators and the Electricity Authority

We may also use the email address or address you gave us when you registered, completed a form or participated in a contest or promotion on our website to send you email or regular mail from us regarding products, services or other contests and promotions that we think may be of interest to you.

We may use information provided by you to verify your identity if you need help with a forgotten password, or you are having logon difficulties with any of our site services.

From time to time we may aggregate and/or de-identify your information to analyse trends, preferences, and demographics.

We will not use your personal information for any other purposes without your prior permission or except as required by law.

Your rights

You have a right to access to and request correction of any personal information that we hold about you. You can do this by contacting us at admin@kea.nz

How do we use "cookies"?

"Cookies" are small pieces of information stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Cookies do not contain personally identifying information. It does provide details of your IP address, the computer platform that you use (eg Mac or Windows), the browser that you use (eg Microsoft Explorer or Netscape) and what domain you are accessing our sites from. With this information we can do the following:

  1. Track traffic patterns to our site.
  2. Ensure that the most relevant content is being shown.
  3. Allow you to enter certain site member services without having to log in each time you visit.

In order to reflect the fact that our business is growing constantly, we reserve the right to change this policy at any time. Changes to the policy will take effect at the time the updated policy is published on our website.
